Default Which top mount

After a few posts in my quest for power I've been advised to fit a sti top mount intercooler to my my99 I've had a look at some pics of them and they look identical to the top mount it's fitted as standard bar it been silver and having sti stencilled on it is there any difference to them or is it pointless buying one ? I'm looking for around 320 bhp and currently have a ppp de cat panel filter so what else do I need to make the power am looking for what's the best turbo a td05 or a vf model I'm struggling with my choices and don't want to waste money buying mods for no improvement cheers in advance

You say my99, is it a UK car? If so the newage STi IC is much larger than the std one. This allows more cooling area to cool the air going to your inlet. The cooler/denser the air going in, the more power you will get out. I'm not certain but think you would need a remap after fitting the larger IC.

As for turbos, TD0516G should make that power and maybe a bit more. You will need a remap if you change the turbo.

What you are best doing is saving up to buy a group of mods before doing a remap as if you do it bit by bit then you will waste a lot of money on remaps.

Andy Forrests website is very useful for a guide on cost effective tuning.

The STi8 on TMIC is far larger than your one and is the one to go for.

TD05-16g will need modifying to front entry, but they are cheap to buy, tough and more than capable of exceeding your gearbox capability if cranked up.

The TD05 is a top entry turbo which came on early classics, and later classics and newage use front entry turbos.

For the TD05 you need a front entry compressor cover to replace the top entry, can be bought for around £80 from harvey on here.

The VF series as far as i'm aware are all front entry and will be a straight swap, but may need modification for oil and water lines.
