1. I need these gauges ? whether yes or no can you explain why ?
2. I need a knock sensor ? as above why ?
3. If I need any of them could you give me some guidence on which ones you`d go for please. I dont want cheap and im not a millionaire so middle of the roads ideas please.
2002 wrx Bug - Expecting about 270bhp after remap - Mods - Prodrive sports cat second decat rest s/s, k&n panel, 3port, 255 fuel pump.

Boost: helps you and your mapper to see what you are doing when mapping.
Oil, (temperature): shows when the engine is fully hot so can be driven hard. You'd be surprised at how long it is AFTER the water temperature shows hot
Oil (pressure): shows what it says, early warning of engine failure, maybe BEFORE it's terminal. Also shows that all is well.
Knock: shows what it says, ie: if you have knock, det, pinking, call it what you will, but it's the quickest way to kill a Scoob engine, so if you have the device and see it illuminate, take your foot off.

Would you say its a NEED brfore remap??
I`m not a great fan of how gauges look in a car but if they are needed then I`ll get them and have them installed at the same time as having all the other mods/remap done.
Any ideas of where I would get these from for a reasonable price ? And how much do they generally cost to fit - boost, oil temp, oil pressure and knock ?
Cheers

Its upto you really. If you want to keep an eye on everything then yes. If you dont drive like a maniac & your car has subtle mods then not needed. However in both cases some still do just for safety.

As above. Do you really NEED anything except speedo, fuel and maybe engine temperature? That's what was on my first car.
But if it's engine went it was a brand new one, (Ford Blue Cross), for less than £200 so no problems. Or a scrappy for £50 and half a day to fit it.
Now, I'd not be without gauges.

I`m not going mad just prodrive sports cat, second decat decat up-pipe,255 fuel pump,3 port and k&n panel filter. SO I wasnt sure if I would benefit/need one at this stage of mods, I will be going to stage 2 at some point with vf35, pinks and sti tmic but thats nxt yr some time.

Really & truely mate these are safety features & it all depends on how safe YOU want to be.
For example if your always getting 1 bar of boost & you realise the car feels abit slow, you then have the gauge to check & see if its still making 1 bar or not. If the gauge is not reading 1 bar & reading 0.3 then its just helped you out as the reading on the gauge is low & your car is under performing.
Same can be said about over boosting & oil temp gauge reading too high, hence the gauges being there to verify this.
Hope this helps

Honestly, you won't need any of them. But yes I have the lot. But mine is running >50% above std. bhp.
KS3 is very pricey, not needed yet...
Boost gauge, not needed you'll know if it's in limp mode, it goes slower...
Oil Pressure, good buy but not critical on a mildly tuned road car, IMHO.
Oil temp, first on my list. Get one bought. Demon Tweeks have lots of tasty options.
All IMHO.
