Just a random question, if just remove the air con belt from a classic Impreza turbo would you notice any gains on road? I guess you would on a rolling road? or just remove compressor and all ac related parts and save weight. lol

there's no point removing it on a uk turbo or a wrx, it will not make no difference at all,
keep it on there as its a good selling point,

The A/C has an electromagnetic clutch which is disengaged when the A/C is switched off. Therefore no power is drained by the A/C while it is switched off.

However you can remove the compressor and A/C rad to save weight.

Don't think you would feel any real gains mate.when the air cons on u do use more fuel but no sure when its off. You would save weight removing it all but on a road car don't think you would notice it

Why do you want to remove a 1k extra from a uk turbo or you may as well keep it in there for summer or you will suffer plus its a good selling point.
, dont come out with any of this "i want a lighter car" lark, it makes virtually zero difference.

That is a crazy statement. Power to weight ratio is important. If you want to know, have 5 people in the car and three bags of cement in the boot - see if you can notice a difference in your cars performance.
Losing weight is far far cheaper than increasing power which costs £££s

It depends,if you just take the aircon out it will make no difference ,but if you go the whole hog, sound deading out, lighten panels and wheels, interior stripped out then you may notice a difference.Lets face it you never really notice the difference between a full tank of fuel and when its nearly on empty

You prob use it 1% - literally! - during the year i.e. 3-4 days!

I do like to have it... But have had to have my STi 5's A/C temporarily removed due to my Hyperflow FMIC getting in the way.

i kept my aircon even though it was a pain the **** to fit the front mount with it on, its worth it though as there is nothing worse then being stuck in traffic in the summer with the windows down breathing in some dirty disease-el smoke.
