Default Apexi N1 coilover issue on my 96 wrx sti

first thing i noticed with these coilovers was that the ride is very hard, perfect for track use for daily road use its very uncomfortable. is there a way to adjust these to make them soft?

so the problem with them is, the top mounts are knocking, sometimes very loud depending on road surface. started with the front right and rear left but within two days the other front and rear started to knock.

jacked the car up and checked for play, and could here the knock from the top mount. i might be wrong, but what else could these knocks be?

If they are JDM Apexis the shocks are set up to give an incredibly firm ride. Front and rear spring rates are I think 8 and 6kg/mm, if you down these to 6 and 5 ish you will get a little better ride and a better balanced car. Otherwise you can try playing with the damper adjusters which are at the bottom of the shocks which take a small allen key. Ultimately though, they will never be a comfortable ride I don't think, they will always be stiff!

It'll be the spherical bearings in the top mounts knocking. They are available at most motorsport places i.e. demon tweeks just measure them up.

Cheers for the info, yeh I noticed under the bonnet where the strut sits there is a big nut which tightens the coilover into place, then there's 2 sides both with 2 nuts; one side has markings I assume that has to do with camber adjustment, is it the other side you can change that will soften the ride?

Yeh I've read a few forums and these are extremely hard coilovers, 100% designed for track use.
