A total PITA without removing the manifold.

I dont know which model that your referring to but if its the 99/00 MY your having a laugh. I fitted a samco induction hose to my 99 uk turbo last year and it took me 0.5 hr with no inlet manifold removed.
The samco induction on my current 00 uk turbo took 20 mins to fit and the hardest part was getting the old unit off ,which i ended up cutting in half to remove it. Once off i simply slackened off the power steering pump to allow a bit more room and it was on .Heres the picture to prove it:

Honestly that is 2 samco induction hoses fitted in 4 months and no need to remove inlet manifold

Obviously if your FITTING a Samco, it's going to be a doddle, as it's pliable and can easily be pushed into situ.

If your removing the OE black one and replacing with the same, it's a PITA.

The big problem comes when you "loosen" the manifold. There is a very high risk of tearing the original manifold gaskets and the chances of getting the manifold sitting back on the torn gasket, exactly the way it was before disturbing it, is rather low.

Do the job properly from the start and you'll be fine. It's a laborious job, but if it needs doing, it needs doing right.

I would probably agree if you are replacing it for a o/e hose ,but bearing in mind what a new one will cost from a main dealer or £25 - £30 from a breaker, you might as well buy a 2nd hand samco off ebay imho.
My 1st one cost me £50,the one above cost me £35.00 from scoobybits and was a easy enough to fit.

Also there are plenty of people on here who have still removed the inlet manifold even when fitting a samco induction hose,as i was told it was a manifold off job when i posted the question on here 14 months ago.

I dont have a problem with anybody mate,as i said earlier ,i posted the very same question as the op 14 months ago,and in the end it was a lot cheaper & easier to fit a samco unit than to fit the o/e unit.
If you noticed i put the next to the main dealer,as that is exactly what you will tell them when they tell you it is £80.00+ Vat ,and subaru UK dont have any and you may have to wait up to 4 weeks for them to get one from japan, which is what they told me when i contacted them.

If the op is thinking of changing his o/e hose as they are quite restrictive ,then the samco unit was just another option for him to consider.
