Default help pre map running issues?

hi i have a 98 uk turbo standerd bar a simtek ecu as the MAF went was running mint bar a slight cold start issue.

i have just had the engine out to fit fmic, cold air intake, vf28,ngk grade 7 plugs gaped at .65mm (pfr7b i think), heat wraped the manifolds, clutch and rocker gaskets

i now have a running issue.....it hunts badly at idle, if i pick revs up to 2000rpm and hold in there it stutters and missfires constantly yet when i blip the throttle slightley up to 2.5k runs perfect but has not yet been maped and im wondring if its lickly to be the map or weather to look into outher reasons for this???

thing is i want to drive it (off boost) to get it maped but dont realy want to in this condition

would be gratefull for any help/advice

The map does need adjusting but it could equally be a vacuum hose missing/split that is causing the idling issue and/or a fmic pipe that isnt done up properly

Sounds like cam and crank errors triggered by engine wiring close to the ht leads.
On the drivers side there is a white round plug that normally fixes to the air box, as you have now removed the air box that plug is probably laying down on the ht leads.
You need to route the leads and cables so they dont touch.
Very common.
Obviously it needs mapping for changes but should idle without misfire etc

Sorry to be cocky but try pulling a vac pipe off on a map based ecu equipped car and see what it does

Map sensor is the higher smaller one with 3 wires and one vac pipe.
It should be plumbed to the manifold via the pressure exchange solenoid
