After much digging around and phone call's to the previous owner...Ive found out the car was last taxed in 1995!!!! (Taken from the dvla website)
* you no longer have the vehicle and DVLA has been informed
* your insurance company has written off the vehicle
* you take the vehicle abroad permanently
* you apply for a refund of vehicle tax and don’t keep the vehicle
* you are keeping the vehicle off the road and untaxed for less than 14 days
* your vehicle was last taxed before 31 January 1998
-------------------------
Would i need to re-apply for the sorn notice when the car get's back onto the road so i can re-tax it?...Dont want a hefty fine to come up my way.even though i submitted Sorn application when i got the car.
Help!!
It's For my 1983 Wr Quattro

You have a year from when you SORN it, from what I can gather. I just SORNed mine, as I am away until June, and I will just re-apply for tax online using the log book no. on the front page of the v5.

Say's i don't need to sorn it since it was last taxed in 1995. So when it come's to re taxing ill apply for a tax disc with a note explaining.
Right Pita this whole sorn situation. especially when i work on classic car's
When i got her:

i think there is a cut of period -- i.e. if a car has not been taxed for a period it does not appear on the SORN database
I have the V5's for a couple of MK1 minis that are awaiting restoration, they have not been taxed for 20 years
I do not get asked to sorn them
