Default K&N Oil Filter Review

hi Guys,

With all this talk about oil filters, i thought i would post a video i made earlier on.
This came off a Mazda RX-8 which i think will be the same internally if you bought one for the Subaru.

Sorry bout the camera being out of focus too

Enjoy

The bit at the bottom is some kind of leaf spring isn't it? What is it's purpose?

okay guys the orange rubber seal is the anti drain back valve, and the spring stamped steel keeps the filter cartridge pressed against the top of the filter.

Oil is pumped in through the small holes around the center top of the filter. Oil is pushed out and into the engine through the center opening. The orange rubber disc is an anti drain back valve that keeps the filter full of oil when the engine is off. The filter cartridge is in the center. And the spring stamped steel keeps the filter cartridge pressed against the top sits at the bottom. The filter canister holds everything in.
The bottom of filter cartridge contains a bypass valve. Should the oil pressure exceed the spring weight in the valve, oil will pass through the bypass unfiltered. This prevents damage to the filtration cartridge, the oil filter gasket and filter canister.
