2004 sti not boosting :(
was driving home and found the car isnt boosting. i can hear the turbo spinning up but it sounds a different now, and when i let off it doesnt flutter like before.
also, the car has been boosting over 1.5 recently (or so the gauge says) would this indicate anything inperticular?
anyone know what i should be looking for? im assuming it could be a pipe, but i havent a clue at what ones i should be looking at?
thanks, rez

If the max boost has suddenly gone up significantly and it now always boosts to that, then you may have a split/disconnected vac pipe of the boost control system. (The real value WHY all turbo cars should have a boost gauge! ) Obviously, it makes sense not to hoon, whilst you still have this issue.
I'd do a ECU fault code check first (do you have a laptop/software/cable?) - in case it's a sensor or something else that the ECU can 'pick up' on.
If all clear, then carefully check all the small 3/4mm dia. vac pipes attached to the 2-port boost control solenoid. Chase them all the way to the plastic T-piece, and then on to both the nipple on the turbo's compressor housing, and also to the nipple on the w/g actuator...
