Default Water loss worry or not to worry is the question ??

I topped my overflow bottle on the front of the car up the other day having read a thread on here to the max marker, Now ive prob done between 500 and 800 miles since I topped it up to the marker and checked it and its now about 10/15mm below the line now do you think I have anything to worry about or do they just use a lil water over time.

Ive recently had a service and had all coolant flushed, the car seems to be running fine with out any probs at all. Am I worrying for the sake of worrying or do you think there could be a prob ??

No scum on either the expension cap or oil cap.

I invite your thoughts/ideas Snetters

Cheers

It does vary on the expansion bottle, that's what it's there for.

The coolant level in the header tank is where you should be watching, so stop worrying mate

The level in the plastic overflow bottle isnt meant to be at the max marker, thats for reference as thats the max it should get to.
As the name states, its an overflow bottle, the water doesnt suck to and fro from there into the header tank,it can do,but thats if the level gets too lowhigh, its for when the water in the header tank gets too pressurised.
you can fill the expansion bottle to the max marker, but the water doesnt flow back up the tube into the header tank when you do this,so the reading is false anyway.(if the level in the header tank is below the cap neck, you can remove the rubber pipe from the header tank to the metal pipe that flows to the expansion tank and not lose any water,as the metal tube generally doesnt hold water

I don't agree.... this is why the expansion tank is viewable with a gauge down the side. The expansion tank level should tell you nearly everything you need to know about what is happening within your coolant system.

Is there any signs of where the fluid/water is coming from? For example the left front by the rad or right rear etc?

If you had a complete fluid change they more than likely let the old fluid out via the bottom rad pipe .

Just check the clips are done up this area etc.

Also check the water feed pipe going from header tank to top feed on the turbo. Again clips could have come loose.
