Use the guide above.

Its quite a lengthy job though and youll need to do some work to the bulkhead.

Really !! this seems a little excessive, may just keep my eyes open for a slanty STI intercooler !

It's almost as easy to go for a front mount!

at your mods if you are really that concerned try and get the v1-2 sti top mount which is what i did and was fine on cool days or when on the move but the heat soak was horrendous after being standing in traffic or a breif stop at the services, when i wanted more power i had no choice but to go front mount as fitting a later model top mount wasn't a option.

Yep. Fmic on mine aswell. The slanty 'warmer' is a joke. Sti cooler is your best bet.

but with changing the intercooler, surely there will have to be map tweak, if not possible on ecu then would the op not require an esl board or aftermarket ecu like apexi etc to make sure engine is as it should be with the change anyway!!

agreed about fmic though if your going down that road there not hard to fit, takes as long trimming the bumper as it does to fit and better results surely with future scope

On the V1-V2 a fmic is probably the best way forward unless you want to take a grinder to the bulkhead and throttle body to fit a V3 onwards intercooler.

Do it properly and fit a proven, efficient FMIC.
