Default More turbo Q's

Hi all, all hi

I have me a classic 99 uk turbo 2000

Spec
-standard turbo, TMIC, headers and up pipe
-walbro 255 fuel pump
-PFR7B NGK plugs
-3" full decat turbo back exhaust
-green induction filter
-ECUTEK remap @ ~275/275

I dont want to spend **** loads on an old(ish) car and be upgrading internals etc but like most people I want more power so I'm gonna start saving the pennies and upgrade me turbo.

I've been in touch with Andy Forrest and he recommends the vf34 to get me to the 320/320(ish) mark for horses and torq (which is what I've stipulated). I'm totally happy with his recommendation as he comes highly recommended! But I'd like to hear from people who have this turbo and setup similar to mine. What was your experience with this turbo on the road? What kinda figures did your scoobies reach on the rolling road? Basically for the costs knocking the £grand door including remap is it worth it??

Thanks in advance and appologies for any slow replies as doing this on me iPhone as my computers died and now in a million bits after being thrown across the room

I've got a VF34 and believe me it was the best turbo I could of gone for ;-) there's a tiny bit more lag compared too the standard td04 but I think that's mostly down too the fact that the punch from the vf34 is much more than the td04 so you actually feel it punching not the lag.

I did have a lot of mods at the same time as the vf34.

I am currently running 358/357

Standard injectors and tmic.
Prodrive 3 port boost solenoid
Rcm exhaust manifold
RCM induction kit
Rcm complete 3" turbo back exhaust system
VF34 turbocharger with owen developments actuator
Walbro 255 fuel pump
Rcm super lightweight flywheel
Exedy pink box uprated clutch
ECUtek remap by mr bob rawle :-D

Word of warning though is your clutch might need to be replaced, as mine started slipping during mapping session, so mapping had to end and wait for new clutch too be fitted.

Another word of warning is that you'd probably be best upgrading your brakes too, as it's a much bigger amount of stress they are under trying too stop those extra ponies ;-)

My car is a Turbo 2000 the same age as yours, and I've just had a VF34 put on it, with appropriate supporting mods. I'm absolutely loving it! It makes for a pretty rapid and very driveable car on the road.

Had it mapped by JGM on the road, so no dyno figures. Simon did an estimate through the mapping software, and suggested around the 310/300 mark.
Will get round to putting it on a dyno at some point but I'm more interested in how it feels than the figures.

Definitely worth the investment in my opinion. I just wonder how long it'll take me to get used to it and start wanting more power...

As sp00ks says, definitely worth thinking about the brakes. I felt uneasy on the standard brakes running at 250ish bhp when I got the car, so I spent some cash on upgrading the brakes before upping the power.

With the mods suggested you will need a front mount intercooler.
The VF34 can do 360 bhp will all supporting mods but you would need 550 injectors to max it out.

Thanks for the feed back guys!

As for the brakes I totally hear you on that front! I'm already on edge with mine. Any advice on a suitable non expensive upgrade?
