Popping flames and stuttering?? Sti v5
Hi guys
I'm looking at getting another impreza, the one I'm looking at stutters a bit on load and holds back a little apparently it pops out flames every now and then, it has a full Decat system updated fuel pump and
The owner assures me this is due to over fueling caused by the air fuel adjuster in side the car but he hasn't touched it in the six months he has owned it.
Does this sound like overfuelling to you guys?
Thanks
Rob

i have a 98 turbo, with tubular manifold, and a complete stainless system on, also uprated fuel pump.. mine stutters, esp when on motor way doin about 75 and when on steady throttle... it feels like its lurching.. not too bad, but its there... i got told it was either because i have an hks mushroom filter, which sends the mav wappy, or could be the uprated exh manifold... its holding back pressure, long enough to supply the turbo with maximum boost.... a quick fix would be to fit standard air filter box, woth sports filter, as the airbox contains an inlet with is designed to let the air in smoothly... i'm just leaving mine as it is cos it runs fine

Thus one while your accelerating you can feel it kinda hold back a bit, as if 1 or more cylinders aren't firing, but it doest accelerate through the stuttering, also it does it more when cold!

Has he changed the dump-valve? Try going back to a stock recirculating one. The VTA ones cause overfuelling.
I'd NOT touch a car like that, the borewash is probably killing it and knackering the oil too.
