Hi 'Hubby' here
Thank you for the details, I downloaded the one from scoobypedia and compared it to the ROM I got from the car with ecuflash as I wanted to sanity check the ROM from this new car and see if there were any DTC codes recorded.
The car has the PPP and the ECU stickers and certificate confirms this, and apart from an additional copyright string and a block of unused data in the ROM (ECUTek license?) they are the same. Is the link the PPP version then or are they supposed to be different?
Apologies if this has been asked before, I did try a search but couldn't see anything that answered that directly.
Cheers,
Paul

The ecu roms on scoobypedia will not be the PPP versions - you will not access these anywhere for download in a reliable format.
Writing a non PPP map over that will obviously lose your PPP map.
Daft question ... but what are you trying to acheive ?
You dont need to download or upload roms to read the DTCs - only to switch them off if any are repeatedly coming on such as P0420 where you have decated ...
A bit more information will be helpful

Just a bit of sanity checking because a couple of years ago I had an issue when I bought a RalliArt ECU from someone who was later found to be a bit of a scam artist as it turned out it was a standard Evo VI ECU. As they are electronically identical I couldn't verify it without looking at it so I thought I would do the same with this.
I will double check when I get home tonight what the different memory addresses actually are just in case they are one of the maps and everything is fine, I visually compared a few of them but not all of the tables.

Yes understood but thank you for the warning, I know and I have no intention of doing that as she will kill me
It's not a daft question at all and I'm sorry I didn't explain it better before, essentialy I want to verify what ROM (and maps) is in the car at the moment to make sure nothing has been altered or tweaked from the recorded history we have of the car so far.

Yes sorry I added that as I was also using the OpenPort 2 to grab the DTC's at the same time. Sorry for clouding the question a bit.

Gotcha.
You will need to do a file compare to thoroughly check that the rom that you have pulled is the same as a PPP map but as you havent a standard PPP map to hand for that year you wont be able to do this ....
The A4RG06OQ is the early ROM image from the bug sti, most of the PPP cars that i have seen seem to be on ROM image A4RN1000.
The biggest giveaway to see whether the rom is a std sti one or PPP one is the boost target table - the std sti one will be showing a peak absolute target of 2.176 bar versus 2.346 for the PPP map.
If you want to call me I will see if i can help further Paul.

I looked more closely at the differences I mentioned before, there is an extra block of nulls starting from offset 0x20000 to 0x27FF0 on the Scoobypedia ROM, without this they are the same. So I'm guessing that extra block is an additional RAM image stored which wasn't grabbed by EcuFlash.
I stripped this out using dd and they are the same.
Curiously someone else has been looking at this ROM recently, someone who came to look to buy it a week or so before us. Apparently they downloaded the ROM to check it was genuine and declared that it was to the seller, wonder if they uploaded a standard ROM at the same time. Which would be a tad annoying to say the least.

Paul
