Default Repair or break?

I'm due to pick up an N Reg WRX soon. I think it has a closed deck block STi engine in an RA shell, and the timing belt has snapped. Not sure yet if it is due to siezing from oil starvation or what, but I need to decide whether it would make more sense to repair or replace the engine or break the car? It has quite a few mods and everything apart from the engine is fine but I was thinking to replace the engine with a similar one would be pretty steep.

Any advice/opinions welcome.

Thanks

depends on what its worth to you/how much you want to spend. If the belt has snapped its likely you would be looking at an expensive repair bill. Second hand engines are a bit of a minefield tbh, API for a recon unit may be your best bet it that respect or go ***** out and spent a lot on a monster build, if you choose to repair the car whichever way be prepared to have you pants pulled down !

Guess it'll get broken then. Bit of a shame as it's in good nick and still has plenty of MoT and tax. I haven't got loads to throw at it though, so sounds like the best bet. Maybe keep the shell and put an SR20DET in and make another drifter.

Well, picked up the car today and it'll be a shame to break it but I don't have the money to put a new engine in. The belt has snapped, I think due to the top NS cam picking up and siezing, as there are marks on the cam bearing surface.

It has a closed deck block if it's the one with the crosshatch markings on the block near the alternator,
Cusco front coilovers,
HKS Hi Power,
17's with good tyres,
Good brakes, 4 pot fronts and drilled and grooved discs all round
FMIC
Forge header tank
TD05 (I'm told, but not sure how to identify it with it in the car).
Black leather interior, looks like rear seats fold forward
Good solid RA shell, MOT'd til December, taxed til September IIRC

The previous owner said it's really quick to about 110-120 but I've looked at the tag (TY752VB3FA) and don't think it's a close ratio box or anything, and I'm not sure what the diff ratio is as yet.

Can anyone give me some pointers as to the going rate on parts so I can sell them for a fair price please? I'm just off to look at membership rates so i can sell it all without upsetting anyone.

Many thanks

Two pots? Do you mean the 4 pot fronts, as I think the rears are single?

I took a load of pics but don't think I can post them as I'm not a paid up member ATM

Do I just join as a member for £12 a year or do I have to specifically do the for sale thing at £4 a month?

Just paid up for the year. I'll advertise the bits when it comes through.

Cheers for the help. If anyone else has an idea of prices, please post up.
