Hi there,Not long had my bugeye WRX and it is pretty standard at the mo - 1. Induction kit (possibly japspeed)2. Scorpion backbox3. Bailey Dump ValveI want to try and improve the performance and was wondering what the best mods are \ order in which to do them? I was thinking of the following but I'm after some advice - 1. New downpipe with 100 cell cat then straight through centre section to backbox (how many cats are on the 01 bugeye WRX is it 2? Will it still pass emissions for MOT with 100 cell CAT on downpipe and no 2nd CAT?) Also what brand of exhaust to go for - Blueflame, Japspeed etc...2. Put standard air filter box back on and get a performance panel filter?3. Possibly a remap at this point?Any advice would be appreciated...

The only way to improve performance is via a re-map......the ECU is pretty clever and will simply run the same BHP by altering the fuelling etc if you change anything.

TD04 is pretty small but should be able to hit 265 BHP with Sports cat, good panel filter (I'd change fuel pump as well) and opensource re-map.

Bugeye has 3 cats by the way (up-pipe, downpipe and centre cat)

Hi there at first go your nearest Independent Subaru Specialist and be sure, your engine is OK,because you will later end with big bill

1, Induction kit you are don't need, fit uprated Panel filter(K&N or Green Cotton,Cosworth etc.),if you have Induction kit refit there OE airbox with panel filter and engine will be run much better

2,Backbox give you just better sound against OE backbox, this is not performance mod,i would recommend have look for good sport cat(from £250 selling Cobra Exhaust UK),and about the exhaust i would recommend Cobra Exhaust or Miltek(Alyn@AS Performance have good deals at moment),Hayward&Scott
With sport cat you can pass MOt,but sport cat must be little hotter than standard catted downpipe

3, Remove Bailey DV and fit OE Recirc/Forge recirc, your engine will be run much better and happier.

4, If you are fit these parts, please book your car for remap for your safety(this depend where are you located, but lot of mappers are mobile, you have two option for remap OS or EcuTek,OS is generally cheaper option, remap cost from £225-£350 and EcuTek cost £550)

5, I would also recommend 3-port boost solenoid,cost £60-£90

Good luck

Great, thanks for the advice. I think I'll start with fitting the standard airbox with performance panel filter and get an exhaust system fitted but keeping the backbox I currently have if possible (it's in very good condition). If the car has 3 cats as mentioned, which can I swapout to still pass MOT? If I get a sports CAT on the downpipe section can I decat the other 2? Will it throw up an EML?

Hi there good start is refit the panel filter with OE airbox.
Yes you can have fitted your backbox on new exhaust, you are need just one cat for passing MOT.
You have 3 cats(1st cat is in downpipe,2nd is in Centre pipe and 3rd is in up pipe),you can leave one cat in place(or replace with Sport cat) and you will still pass MOT and will not throw EML/CEL,if yes you can visit Independent Subaru Specialist which can disable via Laptop.
