Hi all I used to own a STi v2, been reading up and read the TMIC doesnt work very well after 100mph and im sure mine blew up because of this
Does the newage e.g. bugeye wrx have the same problem or is it a much better design?
cheers chris

Thankyou for the reply I've just purchased a bugeye that's the reason why I asked
, I don't want to make the same mistake as I did with the v2 and have some fun over 100mph on occasion and blow it up because the intercooler isn't getting enough air (private road of course)

Hi there for full potential of STi TMIC,you will need STi scoop and IC splitter..
If you have bugeye WRX,not worth swapping/upgrading to STi TMIC if you have still TD04 and if you are not looking to modified your bugeye to more than 320-330bhp(to this stage your WRX TMIC will be OK)...
And if its chance better and more wise will be fitted Hybrid FMIC which selling Harvey.

I blew my Bugeye with an STI TMIC up on a sustained high speed run on the autobahn - this could have been due to high intake temps although it could have been other factors. I believe the Bug still suffers from poor airflow into the TMIC at high speeds, I guess the only way to find out is in a wind tunnel with a smoke trace.
Power the TMIC can cope with has nothing to do with this question!!

None of the TMIC's work well at high speed, the air is deflected by the bumper and travels over the TMIC. This was partly solved by the higher bonnet line on the Blob and a bonnet scoop that had a lip projecting forward.......
The impreza is not designed for sustained high speed LOL
