yes another oil question

Default yes another oil question

need advise on oil for the ode gal,
spec:
sti v8 short block,
polished ported sti 3/4 heads cams etc,
venom 550 injectors and fpr,
front mount,
cosworth head gaskets,
arp bolts,
uprated oil pump,
full decat exhaust inc 1 piece headers,
prob missed something but ya get the jist.
was thinking 10/40? or would a 10/50 be better?
also semi or fully synthetic?
any advice and also which brand would be great,

gulf competition 5-40 or 10-40 on offer at opie oils for £30 at min which is a bargain.think offer ends tonight tho

Yes, the Gulf 5w-40 or 10w-40 is ideal, but the offer is going on for a while yet.

I ran my sti 8 block on millers 10w50, what power are you going for?

Have a look into some new-ish stuff called Royal Purple.

Judging by the tests being done on it, it out-performs almost every thing else and some stuff three times the price.

Yes, those tests show that Royal Purple is absolutely amazing oil, but when they are sponsoring the tests, the results aren't ever going to go against them. There's several tests doing the rounds on the internet, but they are all from RP.

We had some of their oils chemically tested and we weren't impressed. Most of them contain high sulphur levels, which combined with high temps can produce acidic compounds, the last thing you want around the metals of your engine.

Millers 10w 50. Excellent quality oil that all my Imprezas have been using it.
