Default v3 uk turbo ecu swap with v4sti type r

hi, im new to tuning and after reading lots of threads,i know that i cant remap my ecu. Ive got a v4 sti type r ecu that will fit into my uk turbo but just wondering if this is wise to do? Can i just plug it in and go...ive a subaru dealership near me that can program my key if needed. ive a straight through exhaust system and panel filter on the car too.

any info will be much appreciated.

Thanks
Rich

ok cheers dude. Do MY99/00 models have 3 plug too? Thinking if i could get one and get ecutek that could be a cheaper option than simtek.

Nope the 99/00 ecu will not fit, you will need something like a simtek or apexi power fc

Early UK cars could change ecu's but your talking up to around 1996, those were WRX ecu's to UK cars, after that there are far too many differences in the engines/turbo/injectors/sensors, plus the map is far more agressive on a JDM STI than it is on a UK car and chances are it wouldnt run when you plugged it in (and it will blow your engine up).
Your best bet is as already stated, an after market ecu and have that mapped.
