Default Boost question

I have had my first impreza for a couple of weeks now and have noticed a far bit of turbo lag with it, is this normal?
Boost comes in about 3800rpm and sticks till 6500 then drops off
its a turbo 2000 but it has a vf35 turbo front mount i/cooler and loads of other bits.
A mate has said that this seems a bit late?
would i be needing a remap to solve this as i thought it should be coming in a fair bit earlier say 2500rpm?

Im sorry if this is a bit of a pants post but im new to subaru's and forums

Thank you

Vf35 should spool quick be 2500rpm but the front mount can make it lag. Best speak to a mapper

VF35 wont spool any earlier than that, if you want boost before that then a 2litre petrol with a turbo isnt the thing for you. Normally on a 2 litre after a remap full boost will be around 3500rpm unless you have AVCS heads (you havent) where that helps them spool earlier.

It needs remapping though and that will improve the spool up and more importantly make it safe as running it with that many mods unmapped is walking a tightrope.
