Default FAO any mappers out there

had api build a sti spec engine for my98 uk
until i can get the money together to map it properly i bought a 1s ecu from an sti followed the wire swapping instructions
( swap the cam and crank sensor wires (B136 pin 8 and pin 10, red and white wires) and also move the fuel pump relay wire from B137 pin 17 to pin 7 (IIRC green wire).)
car starts and runs fine but on boost its stuttering (boost only set to 0.7bar) all the way up the revs any ideas what the cause of this is and how to rectify this till i can get mapped
cheers in advance willie

to make it work properly you will need the sti maf maybe the 440's unless your uk model has them and the correct sti turbo for that ecu other wise you are asking another dead engine and no warranty as im sure api wouldn't cover you for this,
in my opinion put it back to how it should be and then get it mapped asap.

Get it mapped asap, drive it off boost if you have to drive it, will be a lot cheaper in the long run if anything goes wrong would be my advice, good luck, Gaz.

1S ecu comes from a 97 WRX, not an STi. The STi ecu should be 6S for a 1997 car or 75 for a 1998 car.

Whichever ECU you run, you need to make sure you have the turbo, MAF and injectors that match the spec of the ECU (i.e. that match the car the ECU came from).

I think he was referring to the fact that a lot of 'stalwarts' on here give good safety advice to relative newcomers.... Only for it to, more often than not, fall on deaf ears.

But not in your case willie... So congratulate yourself lol

Wise move by the OP ... I've heard of people "accidently" hitting boost in un-mapped cars which have then gone BOOM!

Which rods?

They'll be Supertech forged pistons and NEW Sti 9 rods. We are the official UK Supertech dealers now.

Well done Willie got you there in the end.

Good Luck David

500 would be a stretch on those rods 450 / 460 would be OK, I am happy at that.

I bet you've got a good tan Willie, sitting about on those roofs all day long ........
