Default Caliper removal step 2....

Ok guys, after finally getting the bolts off that hold my calipers in place i just need to know a couple of things before i continue...

a. Am i right in thinking i must open the cap to the brake fluid reseviour before disconnecting the brake lines??

b. I was told to wrap clingfilm and a little tape round each brake line to stop the fluid from draining also - is this correct???

Thanks for your help
Andy

a: you don't have to, but it relieves some pressure, which will help with b:
b: as above

You could clamp them if they are rubber hoses.

I take it you are upgrading, so you'll need to change the discs?

With the rear discs, they are held on by the handbrake shoes, so are a bit of a bugger.
But behidn the hub, there is a slotted section for winding the brake shoes in. Do that, or getting them off will be a nightmare.
Caliper removal is no different to the fronts.
