Default 1993 JDM WRX overfuelling

I have the above car and im sure it is overfuelling badly!!

Mods i know of are

induction kit,De-cat pipe + Dawes device and dump valve

long story but it was kicking out black smoke when i bought it under hard boost, the cat then snapped so i had to change it for a de-cat pipe i had lying around, I then suffered from overboost so had to turn the boost down which sorted it.

However since fitting the de-cat the black smoke is a bit worse and it backfires\pops quite loudly during gear change!!!

I know this car can't be re-mapped so whats the best option?

It uses no oil or water at all!!!

Cheers peeps

Sounds normal, mine pops and bangs on gear change and over run.
If its really over fuelling then it could be a dead/dying lambda sensor.

But you really want to put the standard boost controller back on, as the car prefers it.

If you wanted to get more power get hold of some bigger injectors and a FMIC and get them fitted then get an ESL daughterboard, allows the standard ecu to be mapped so making the most out of the mods and engine.

Doing these things like the dawes without correct fuelling correction, is going to make it go bang.

Re-fit the standard recirc if you have it.

Dawes device is fine if set correct, overboost fuel cut is present in your Ecu.
