Default anyone run an APS SR50 turbo on 2L

as above anyone running one of these aps sr50 turbos on a 2L engine?

done a search but does not really bring too much up about it, would be interested to hear what supporting mods, what figures bhp and lb what spool and what boost etc etc

engine will be sti7 with avcs and will have supporting mods tmic only at this time, may be changed to fmic though, the usual decat etc, running a vf35 at 340bhp currently.

thanks for the that jura, i wondered if you post, read that thread but not impressed with the figures on there, you think it would be good for 380-400 then and with a decent spool? what about lag better or worse than a 20g?

I re-read this post and as well i'm not impressed with these BHP figures.

I've seen 400bhp from APS SR40 which one was made 400bhp,and spool really nice on 2.5L

For 380-400bhp will be OK,but not sure about the spool wise on 2.0L

i have an SR40 and it compares to an 18g turbo, you need to really push it to get 400bhp it would seem, most make anywhere between 360-380. i think the 50 is better suited to the 2.5 but will be quite laggy on a 2.0. out of interest why are you choosing this turbo when there are far better options available? do you already have it or is it going cheap?

Don't do it!!

I have the APS SR40 on my 2.5 (405BHP - the most JGM has seen from one of these historically under-performing turbos) and it does spool pretty well (AVCS Heads ported headers, Harvey custom up-pipe), when it was on the 2.0 it was sh*t!

Only 1 bar at 4250rpm and only 370BHP - remember that APS quote this as a 440BHP turbo!!! The SR50 will be even more laggy and you'll be lucky to see much over 400 on a 2.0.

Graph from when it was on the 2.0 lower figures were without ported headers and on std manifold/inlet pie.

I'd get in touch with AET turbos, or just buy an off the shelf MD321, MD555 or SC turbo!

not being funny but there is something seriously wrong if your only getting 270bhp from the SR40 on a 2 litre

thanks for the input guys, yeah ideally i would have an md321 which is what i would rather, only reason i even considered this turbo is i got offered it cheap, goal would be no more than 400 really anyway

ah now thats better yes i think 370 odd is the rough figure which these turbos seem to get, but just so i understand better, how much bar were you running to get 370 on the sr40?

There are far better turbos around. I would save a few more pennies and get one of those rather than buying something you will only want to change soon and end up buying twice.
