Default turbo going or not

got a tdo5 turbo and was just checking it and there is abit of play in it side to side and up and down,should i replace it or not,there is no smoke or anything coming from it when driving or cold,thanks ste

its normal to have a little play in the shaft, as long as its not catching on the housing that is

I think the correct test is pushing/pulling the shaft nose-nut "in and out". What happens?

Td05 and all the Td series of turbo are sleeve bearing turbos and should have a little side to side movement. It should not have no play at all or how is the oil suppose to lubricate & stabilize the bearing.
Vf turbos mostly have ball bearings which require less oil than the sleeve bearing counterparts and should have minimal up/down movement with even less side to side movement.
