Default Methanol Prices and experiences

Well I thought I would start up a new thread to see if we can all compare and gain from other peoples experiences

Currently looking for an alternative source of a 205L barrel delivered.

These are the prices I have up to press:

Jennychem delivered inc vat £177 (includes pump)
Bonnymans "____________" £140
Trinity Research ebay "___" £140
DT Chemicals "__________" £134

I believe you can get a 205L 99.95% Virgin Methanol for as little as £65 collected, yet to find a source!

I stopped using trinity research as they started adding a die which dropped out during the bio process.

It was to stop people like us using it.

I noticed the difference in colour and quality.

Do they still do this?

Default Trinity

I have also used trinity, on ebay it is 34.50 for 25litres delivered if you just want to experiment. I am using a 10% mix with the standard unleaded in a non turbo 2 litre sport. Getting same mileage as acetone at 100mls / 40 litres around 31mpg.
Trinity need your contact number for the delivery, have ordered twice now, 25L then 50L delivered in 3 days!
There is supposedly a disclaimer from Subaru about using more than 10% methanol, I remember reading it somewhere!

That isn't really cheap though is it.

I'm surprised Subaru every recommend using 10%?!

Thanks for the advice, but technically you should need a permit to collect a lot of things, but do you? No its just one of those unwritten rules.

that would be quite unproffesional on the companys parts to let some1 drive off with it without an adr liscence and a bit stupid on the buyers part imagine the fine the company would get if you were to have an accident with it in your boot causing an exsplosion, worth the risk to save a few quid?

and in your feul tank lol

but yeah im sure, you need an adr to transport combustable fuels

its maybe not a bad idea - you might learn a bit, along with legislation. then atleast if youget stopped, your not gony get fined

actually i use it and have a 205lt drum , iam quite aware of what is required.
Dont assume, your point was it could cause an explosion in the boot, well so can petrol if you have the same accident....

you may well use it but i think you need to look it up and do some research im not having a go at you but it is nothing like petrol,of which does not require a liscence to carry although methanol does!with a careless attitude that your displaying things could end in disaster, good luck fella

how on earth will carrying 5lt of meth suddenly require me to get a special licence to stop my car from blowing up? If your talking about carrying 100's of ltrs then yes you should have a special licence.
I have researched it extensively including reading all the relevant Material Safety Sheets, i know what iam dealing with, id be surprised if you do however.
What your talking about is frankly a load of bullcrap and so far i cant see that you have contributed anything to the OP.
To answer the OP , i use bonneymans and always have found them helpfull, the 1st time i ordered i did choose to buy the siphon pump to make things easier, think it added another £15 to the total.

because from a viewpoint of 5-10lt there isnt much, ofc i agree with you if you meant hundreds of ltrs, but i doubt thats even a viable option since which company in their right mind would do that.

ok im thinking we,ve got our wires crossed yes if its in a 5ltr fuel can then i doubt very much anything would happen,i was refering to a post above saying that its cheaper if you pick it up by the barrel (the post has been removed) all i was saying was you need a liscence to pick it up from the likes of trinity ect and if they were to let you take it without and you got caught then some1 would be in the ****!

Fair does, i mustve missed the post about colllecting barrels, must be crazy to do that to save £40.
I couldnt quite understand how a jerrycan in boot required a licence, i stand corrected

Just out of interest, has anybody tried setting fire to methanol? I know which I would prefer to have in the boot, and its not petrol

Go on to wikipedia and look at petrol, then look at each indivudual chemical that goes into making petrol, then look at all the effects each chemical has on the human body and digest.

Then do the same with methanol.

Imo, methanol is a far safer chemical then petrol, its just nearly everbody uses petrol all the time and therefore accept that it is safer than something they know little of.

Methanol isnt as dangerous in anyway as petrol to be honest.
