sti engine into a wrx?
i am considering putting a ver8 sti engine into my 05 blob wrx,i know the loom and ecu are different but not sure what other parts i will need to change.i need to work out if i can do it on my budget so any help would be much appreciated.

I'm pretty sure you could bolt your existing heads onto the sti block. This would avoid the need to mess about with the loom and ecu.
I think you have to modify the block slightly, something to do with it having variable timing but I'm not exactly sure what this entails. You may need a specific gasket to make sure comp ratio stays the same but again not 100% as I aint no expert.

All you would need is the STI ecu and an additional 4 to 6 wires running back to the ECU to get the AVCS running if your using an sti inlet manifold, as this uses some of the TGV wires on the WRX, not too hard to do but you would need to get the pin diagrams of the STI ecu to wire the AVCS correctly, search google its there somewhere but i cant remember where, lol.
I had a full sti conversion in my old bug WRX and that was running AVCS from the sti.
Gaz.
