Default Classic WRX Water Leak

hi basicaly the pipe behind the turbo has decided to snap, but have to remove turbo to be able to get to it, but the turbo will not come off, taken it to garage they said £100 to change pipe but they cant get the turbo off so they gave me 2 options, they can cut it off then re-tap the bolts back in which will cost me more money and take more time, or cut the downpipe and for me to get a new downpipe, but i know i have a decat system on mine but im usure if the cat is in the downpipe?
how much is a 2nd hand downpipe

At worst they should only have to use cutting gear on the studs/nuts. have they tried heating them?

I'm in Scunny too. which garage did you use?

When I had a mechanic mate change the d/pipe on one of my old Scoobs, the turbo bolts were stuck fast, even after a little heat and lubrication. Ended up grinding the old ones off, getting some new bolts and tapping them in. Car was a '95 WRX.

Good luck with the sale.
