yep that is what i do too. done a couple of oil changes and not blown her up yet! i disconnected the crank sensor and turned the engine for longer then 30sec (in pluses of several seconds) but all i was probably doing was thrashing the battery after a certain point!

will a normal garage know this as he is only a small village garage or is it worth just telling him.just dont want him to think im telling him how to do his job lol.so basically once all the new oil is in etc just turn it over with the crank sensor off for 30 secs and then start it with it back in?

i know Smithy, that is exactly what i thought! didn't want to patronise them... but i suspected they would not do this. Then i thought f*** it i'll just do it my self. Yep, as above, just remember to fill up the new filter too-- you'd be supprised how much oil it takes!

I also have never disconnected sensor and no problems. If oil pump up to scratch will have pressure in seconds with no damage as enough oil left on journals to lubricate. If knocking after oil change engine is probably on its road out anyway.

Hopefully he has changed the oil now. See start date of thread ![Wink](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/wink.gif)
There is no harm in disconnecting the crank sensor and cranking until the oil light goes off. It only takes a couple of minutes extra so it is worth doing in my opinion.
