Default MY2006 Hawkeye STI - Uprated Springs wth OEM Shock Absorbers

I am (hopefully) getting some Proven warranty work done at my local Subaru dealer to replace the back shocks. I mentioned about having some Prodrive springs put on, but they are no longer available. The aim is to reduce the bouncy jiggery ride. Apparently, the best alternative are Eibach Pro R Springs Item PREBFE100 for the 2006/2007 STI. Thing is, has anyone gone down this route (Eibach Springs with standard shocks) and what are people's impressions of the difference to the cars handling before (with standard springs) and after (with Eibach springs). No doubt, I would have the geometry re-set to the fast road settings by an expert called Richard of FB Tuning in Princes Risborough. Any comments please?

I have Prodrive springs with standard shocks on my 2006 sti, It helped a little but does not cure the dodgy ride. Looks are great (about 25mm lower) and does make a difference once you have the geometry done.

Contact all the Subaru specialist I bet one of them has a set of Prodrive springs they could sell you!
That's what I did, managed to get a second hand set for £80.00

Sounds a good idea - I'll make some enquiries. I get the impression though that having the geometry done (fast road settings by any chance) made the real difference. If that's the case, I don't particularly see the need to have lowering springs -might as well stay with the standard ones to cope with all the high level speed cushions a.k.a. 'dangerous and distracting obstructions.'

I think you will find that the fast road settings will make most of the difference but matted to the springs it will work better, The prodrive springs are progressive so doesnt firm the ride till you work the suspension hard.

Trouble is you cannot get the Prodrive Springs any longer for the Hawkeye STI - nearest alternative is the Eibach ones which a specialist I spoke to says are more or less the same thing. Unless I can locate a mint unused set boxed from somewhere.

Eibach make the pro drive springs anyway from what I understood.

Any more opinions will be gratefully received as regards Eibach Springs fitted with standard OEM shock absorbers. Thanks.

i done this. i found it to be a great improvement over stock springs/felt much more planted. as GG said, look great as well. they are as has been said and as i am also lead to believe the manufacturers of the prodrive springs, so would be equal in performance. one thing to consider however, i had these on for approx 14 months before the rear shocks played up, so i bought the Apex coilovers from the GB on here. on the up side however, i bought them for £100 off a mate fitted that was going the coilover route and i still got £80 back selling them on all that time later, so IMO, a good stop gap before coilovers.

Check out the new pro R range from your Subaru dealer , I'm 99% sure they do updated springs , as pro R is in it's infancy u may have a wait if u order / but it's worth a look at anyways ,
