Downpipe issues.
Hi guys,
I've got a twin port DP to put on my '97 wagon.
Firstly, how the hell are you supposed to get to the bolts that hold the turbo heat sheild on, i've got all but the 2 down the left side, i think if i break my wrist i can reach them!!! There's not enough room for my hand or a socket and you can't get to them underneath!!!
Secondly, I have 2 sensors on my standard DP, the one at the bottom seems like it needs a 12.5mm spanner!!!WTF! Tried it with adjustable spanner but it's just recking the corners on the nut, it's soooo tight. Plus it looks like it's too small to fit the whole on the new DP.
I'm just looking for some advice from anyone who has changed their DP themselves, did you come across similar problems?
Thanks.

Hi! fella, I changed my downpipe on my 98 wagon last week for a scoobyworld sports cat. I took the intercooler off which free's up plenty of room for working around the turbo and getting the heatshield bolts out.
Only had 1 lambda sensor on my cat to remove which cracked off ok with the right spanner.
The turbo nut's however were very difficult, I had new studs and nuts ready just incase any snapped. Took 2 hrs and plenty of wd40/gt85 spray to get them loose. One siezed and I had to cut the nut of with a dremel. Once off the job is straight forwards. Make sure you have new gaskets ready and the cone ring for the joint's. Take your time, it's fiddly but doable. good luck.
