Hi all change all the locks on the missis sport 1998 cause she lost the only set come to the ignitionhavent taken the old one off yet just plugged in the new one and it wont start turns over just no life Am i missing somethng ?? One thing i noticed was the light on saying check engine and the key light on the dash stays on where normaly it would flash help please as lossing her keys has set me back best part of 300 now any help is a bonus cheers si

 

found this, but it might be US only. Worth a try though.

Unhook the car’s alarm, if it is equipped with one. Open the driver’s side door, sit inside, and then close the door. Insert the key. Turn it between “Lock” and “On” 10 times quickly. Leave it in the ignition.

Open and then close the driver’s door. Push “Lock” on the remote. You’ll hear the horn chirp. The remote is programmed.

 

it will have a transponder around the ignition barrel that will read the chip in the key its not gettin the signel so thinks its bein pinched

 

CHEERS for your help gallois its has,nt got an alarm/key fob just when the car is locked from the drivers door a red light flashes in the introment panel which is also a key sign
D.A Dave ive not taken the old barrel off yet just plugged the new one in to see if worked befor i cut the old one up .Have the classics got a chip in the key they are just the normal thin keys not the bulkie ones like new cars still cant get it started was find befor she lost the keys and all ive done is pull out the ignition wires and connected the new one cheers si

 

yeah the classics have a chip in the key , you can see it near the blade
