Sports Cat - instant MOT failure?

If it's in the centre pipe then it may need to be made hot. Accelerate quickly a few times on the way to the garage and get them to test the emissions first. If it's in the downpipe then it tends to stay hot enough.

wonder if its the new rules your hearing about that if its a early august 1992 to july 1995 wrx there is no match in the emmision database and thus receives a non cat test.
under new rules ( that start from 01st jan 2012) the wrx was fitted originally with a cat and if its missing and if the tester can prove that it had one from standard ??? then it will fail even though it does not have to meet current cat emmision levels . quite how i as a tester can prove that it had one fitted as standard by subaru whilst imdoing the mot is a difficult one. i know it did but i have to be able to prove it lol

100 cell for me and has past both MOTs. Last time round the tester did have trouble but got there in the end-- having said that it used to struggle on the standard exhaust! i just remind the guys every year that it has a sports cat. Go for it!
