Default My First Problem!

My first problem with my Subaru

First off its a Subaru 2000 Turbo - V Reg

Ok on sunday i did a usual drive to Asda and parked it up at home and pressed the key fob alarm button, everythings fine.

Now on Monday morning to go to work the button to open the car no longer opens the car! So i get in the car using my keys and the alarm goes off and the car wont start - i assume its because the fob hasnt got past the immobiliser.

I cant find the code anywhere to manully override it... What do i do?!

If its of any use the alarm and immobiliser is a Sigma M30.

Thanks,

Ash.

Search the car and any documents/service book/handbook etc you have to find the pin code.
Keep trying using the fob beside the car, mine has sometimes not armed/dis-armed, and pressing the fob a few times has worked, maybe press repeatedly 5 or 6 times, then stop for 10 secs and try again, also try walking round the car pressing fob as you go, maybe other radio signals affecting it.
There is one car-park near me at a shopping centre where mine often doesn't work, but I have the pin code so it's not too much of an issue.

Thought that was de-bunked as being because you are holding it higher up increasing the range.
The 'trick' was to walk away from the car till your remote didn't work, then hold it to your head. The same result can be had by just holding the remote at head height.

It may be the battery on the car is flat. Have you tried jump leads to rule that out.

I got caught out once, at a shell station. That was something to do with phone masts! I called a dealer gave them my VIN and they called back with my alarm code. Problem solved!

Had this happen about a year ago. After looking through all the Toad paperwork it magically fixed itself and hasn't happened since... would love to know the solution should it happen again though.

iv had this problem a few times, its the sigma alarm and phone masts, taxi buildings, anything with a signal on a similar wavelength as your alarm.

The solution iv found is to get in the car, release the handbrake, and rock back and forth whilst pressing the fob down, sometimes u only have to move an inch and it will work.

Where i live there is 2 places i know of that i couldnt park because of this, however i found my pin and now its fine. Hope this helps.

Hi have you tried resetting the key fob ? You can do this by turning the ignition on in your car a pressing the fob button for around 10 seconds - also you can test the fob is sending a signal by picking a by landline phone up press any number to get rid of the dial tone then listen to the ear peice while you press the fob and you should hear a slight noise though the phone - just something's I've read about

i had the same problem . towed the car back home thinking the sigma was fooked and when back home it worked!!!!. Phone masts etc are reported to be the cause . I did not have the keypad number either but when home and the fob worked it was easy to reset the number on the keypad (search sigmasam on snet) , now when it happens i just enter my code on the keypad in the glovebox. hope this helps a little

You can reset the pin but you will need to have the alarm unset, then you just need the car key and the Sigma manual.
I always have to use my pin outside a Tesco's due to their internal radio signals blocking my fob. I was going to buy one of their upgraded shelded units which cures the fob problem but have never got round to it.
