Did you rest the ECU after cleaning?

Hunting at idle is usually MAF, idle air control valve or vacuum leak.
First guess is a vacuum leak especially if it stumbles when revved before settling down to idle. A common cause of vacuum leaks is leaking blow off valves.

I did an ecu reset although I couldnt stay above 11kmh coz some dope was parked on double yellows. I also also cleaned the idle control valve the best I could, although I couldnt get to the rest of the dirt. It was running a hks shroom filter, and fuel press regulator but no blow off valve

New sensor.
"Genuine" ones are about £150+ but I had mine replaced at the main dealer and they put a Bosch one in.

Camskill seem to have some at less than £100 http://www.camskill.co.uk/m10b806s26...5_1997_to_2000

Should be fine as it is what the dealer's fit.

A guy on the Forester board fitted one with no problems http://www.subaruforester.org/vbulle...parison-90576/

You altered the position of the ICV when you cleaned it? Doesn't take much.
