You need to get yourself an OBDII(OBD2) Scantool/Code Reader
You can get them on ebay for less than £30 and it will read the fault and can delete it....
My wifes Golf used to flash the engine light and go into 'limp mode'...after over £200 at VW and changing Coilpack 1 thre times and switching coils round...they said it was just a glitch in the electrics system....so, considering that they charge £50 just to use a diagnotic tool on your car(the same one that you can buy off ebay)....you can buy one and do it yourself instead of getting fleeced!!
It also works on nearly every car since 2001 so, I use it on my Scoob...
My Bugeye doesn't like being driven like a granny...if I am doing 40/50mph in 5th gear and I gradually speed up by pressing down the pedal but staying in 5th, as soon as I go past 3000 revs, the engine light flashes and sometimes stays on...I have had it looked at by my Scooby Mechanic and theres nothing wrong with Coilpack1..(lol...same coil as the golf)...so, I just delete it and get on with it....
......when I rag the car round country lanes with agressive revving, there are no lights and everything runs great....and shes on 113k miles these days...
...So,get yourself a Scantool and have peace of mind straight away....
N.B.....make sure you get one that deletes codes aswell....
..mine reads the code...deletes codes and can tell you the VIN number of the car....
...also handy when looking at a car to buy....
...the connection port on my scoob is just under the steering wheel...
...good luck mate

Oh dear.
Something with the secondary air system I’d say. Had the same with mine.
Is either one of the 2 air valves at £300 each plus fitting or the plastic pump at £700 each plus fitting. Subaru wanted £1600 to diagnose & fix my system.
Ended up having Rich at FB tuning fit blanking plates, rip the whole system off and get the car remapped to ignore the faults of the pointless system. Don’t need it, get rid of it!
Good luck!

By the way, this was not related to you fitting exhaust bits. My secondary air system error codes started when I changed my Top mount intercooler. Thought I’d done something wrong, put it all back to standard but they kept coming back on. Sometimes after a week, sometimes after a day but eventually all the time.
Will be part of the secondary air system. Pain in the **** system that only fitted to 2006 onwards cars.

Trouble is, the code will not necessarily point to the problem. Could be another part of the secondary air system at fault. Will definitely be one of the 2 air valves sticking or pump not working. It's very very common indeed.
Subaru will want to charge you a fortune just to investigate. One of the valves is under the headers so very expensive labour to remove.
System only runs for 10 seconds or so when you first start the car from fold in the morning then will not get used again. Just pumps fresh air through your engine to fool the emissions readings for first ten seconds before cat is at temperature, so will not effect your mot if completely removed.
Loads of info online if you Google subaru secondary air system. Good luck. Andy.

You may be able to check yourself which part is broken. If you find the 2 self test connectors under the dash near the pedals, will be tucked up out the way and unplugged. (green or grey to my memory, cant remember which). Connect these together while the ignition is off. Turn the ignition onto the last position before starter and the electrical system will go into self test. You will hear all the relays, fans etc running for short burst. If you put a screwdriver to one of the valve casings you should hear it clonk open and shut, likewise you will hear the small plastic fan running. This may point you towards the fault. However, did this on mine and everything seemed to be working and clonking open/shut just fine, but still threw codes so no idea. Worth a go!
Also don’t forget to unplug the 2 connectors again before you try start the car!
Good luck. Andy

I've just had a rebuild on my RB after a blown headgasket, now got some forged goodies and after 50miles into the run in period Engine Management Light comes on. Error code picked up was P0410 Secondary Air Injection System..... The reason could be as simple as driving under 3000rpm for continous time etc..
Anyway the cars going in next week and will be simply mapped out

Unfortunately you cant just have the problem mapped out. You need to fit the cosworth blanking plates to the block. If one of the valves is stuck in the open position this could cause heat transfer and eventually damage the one way valve between the valves & pump.
I have looked into this a lot when mine threw the same fault codes. Had all the error codes turned off after I had it blocked off. Also cant unplug one of the cables to one of the valves as it also contains another sensor that will cause problems if unplugged.
