Default Advice needed - turbo upgrade or not?

I have recently purchased the following for my bugeye wrx but am unsure if I should go ahead with the mods:
Pink injectors, Sti up-pipe, td05 20g turbo

I already have ppp sports cat and other minor mods. Currently mapped at 270hp, loads of torque, Love the way it pulls and early spool

My worry is that with bigger turbo etc, will give me loads of lag I know I will get some. Is there anyone local to me with similar mods who I could sit with and see what the difference would be in power delivery before I spend the cash on fitting and mapping. I'm in the Oxford area, hope I'm not being too cheeky guys.

Cheers

td05 20g is good for around 400bhp, this will shred your wrx gearbox, you prob better off aiming for a vf43 or similar and limit it to around 340ish bhp

if only 330 , then 20g is overkill, you way off better looking at say a vf35,43,48 etc. Should be plenty in the second hand section here
These turbos will spool up much earlier and you wont have to limit them to a low boost pressure to save your gearbox, overall will be a much better drive
( I say spool up earlier but a properly maped 20g can spool from around 2.9k revs with correct mods and map on 2.5l, i have no experience with 2.0l )

Probably best will be try 20G on WRX,if someone have in your area WRX with 20G,i would recommend try, before deciding.

Some guys run 400bhp on WRX few years without the problem, but i must say its lucky draw, some running still and some break WRX box on 330bhp.

For something like 330bhp will be best as suggest above,18G will be nice too on WRX,but still think VF34 is best from VF range without the doubt,i've run mine WRX with VF34

I have had loads of advice on turbos and also chatted with guys with the 20g on 2 litres and they love them I know it's down to your mapper to do his magic and I have a good one. Just wanted to see how much of a different car it would be to drive in. I did look at 34 and 35 but this mint 20 g came up at a great price and hardly any miles and it's an original too.

only thing id say is a 20g will have to be pegged back, a vf34 etc wont so will feel more brutal ( prob only way id explain it ) i doubt you will be disapointed with either, but i was told by mapper its always best to use the smallest turbo poss for you aims, will give a better driving expeirence

Thanks for advice guys all very helpful. But if anyone would be willing for me check out their motors if they have similar turbos and set up that would be great.

As stated previously above ,there are plenty of other turbos that will get you to 330 bhp and have a lot less lag than a 20g. The Vf 34/35 are a popular choice, but a vf 23/28 will get you to 330 bhp with supporting mods ,you might just struggle to find a good one. Taken from a well respected mappers site :

We recommend that you choose the 'smallest' turbo capable meeting your power requirements. This will ensure maximum response and support the widest useable power band.

So your 20 g may be a touch overkill for only 330bhp when there are a good few turbos capable of that figure with far less lag.

I'm running a VF35 with FMIC, stock injectors, walbro pump, sports cat system and induction kit and I'm running 337bhp and 300lb/ft. With a VF34/35 you dont have to go overkill on supporting mods to get it to produce nice figures. Mines mapped on Vpower but talking to mappers, if I want to drop to 95RON they're confident of power figures around 300/300, which is a decent, useable amount in a road car that you dont want to blow up.
