lamda/resistor newage
Has anyone fitted the resistor to the lands sensor after decating the uppipe, is it straight forward? All instruction welcome I've done a few searches but couldn't find anything

It is easy, if your having a remap though it's not nesecery as they can turn the light off permanently while mapping. If you are doing it you need a 2.2k ohm resistor. Basically just put each end of the resistor into the two terminals in the plug then secure with a dab of solder.

My uppipe is a decat with the sensor when I got it mapped a while ago it was working fine so just left it, the mapper told me without the cat it may come on as the cat secures it a bit so without it it get knocked around but if the light ever comes on just to fit the resistor if this makes sense, do you have a pick of the resistor fitted

I've been told its a lands sensor once by the garage that fitted the uppipe (extreme motorsport) and again by the mapper (Andy Forrest) both know what there talking about. It's a blob wrx

There may be some confusion somewhere, the sensor in the newage WRX pre-cat up-pipe is the EGT sensor. The STi does not have a pre-cat or an EGT sensor in the up-pipe, many aftermarket de-cat up-pipes also do not have a sensor boss for the EGT sensor and reguires a re-map or resistor fix.
There is a Lambda sensor in the downpipe which throws P0420 if de-catted and needs mapping out.

PS I'll hunt out a diagram

Replacement decat WRX up-pipes without an EGT sensor requiring a "resistor" fix have been covered a few times on scoobynet.

Here for example.

I run a WRX and fitted an STI up pipe, after which on ECUTek I got a CEL for the EGT.
All you need to do is fit the resistor as stated, then clear the code and it won't return.
You don't even need to solder it in really; you can poke the resistor in and cable tie it if you're not a perfectionist!
One thing I did encounter about 3 months after this was my Lambda sensor went; if yours does for christ's sake don't buy one from Subaru - they charge about £330 for one; you can pick them up online *new* for less than £100 delivered if you search hard enough . They're also very easy to replace - 30 mins job.

The resistor plugs into the loom just next to the off side front turret, It's the plug with the EGT sensor lead dangling from it. Remove the EGT sensor lead, Bend the legs of the resistor over, jam into the empty plug and seal with a dab of silicone.....
