Quite easy. The silver surround that covers the radio and heater dials simply pops off then you can see 4 screws that hold the unit in place. Brackets are on the side of the headunit

and if your new stereo comes with the power antenna wire connect it to the blue wire on the iso harness or you might get poor radio reception

You wont be able to plug it straight in unless its another Subaru stereo.

You'll need a Subaru to ISO connector loom (£16 in halfords) but be warned, if its a cheap stereo then expect cheap results.

I just swapped my friends bug eye stereo to one of these

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/110701876961

Loads of features etc but the built in amp isnt very powerful. You HAVE to get a sub in the boot to get any sort of bass/sound quality really, but again we got a cheap FLi Trap 1000w sub off ebay for £40 and it works ok. Its no award winner, but its better than standard thats for sure.

yeah, we think its good. Bluetooth phone etc, dvd quality is ok etc. Only downsides are that the ipod lead has to stick out of the front and the USB cable but these can be tucked in the glovebox.

If you use the ipod and turn the ignition it doesnt remember where it was so you have to go through the list again, but its no biggy really. For what they cost, and the features you get I dont think they can be beat. Once you add a sub they give a decent quality but arent very loud, thats the only gripe really.

you should get a USB lead which you can plug a USB stick full of music into.

Only the 601GPS will do satnav. They all have the slot but you need a GPS reciever with it for it to work.

The rear connections are for amps, video out and camera in.

We didnt have a stereo in Emmas so had no brackets and I had to "make" it fit with some diy brackets.

Just make sure you take the 2 L-Shaped brackets off the old stereo.

Halfords had the iso cable when I went in so you should be ok.

Yeah, the mic is built in, but you have to talk loud over the scooby burble to be heard!

good luck with it mate, post up some pics once you get it fitted.

Oh, btw. The 601G is the only one that does satnav, the 601 has it on the screen but no GPS connection on it. If you've got a G then youre in luck.
