Default 2004 wrx ignition beeps

My car beeps when I turn the ignition on - not always and sometimes twice, sometimes three times. Sometimes it gives another couple of beeps a minute or so later when I'm on the move and once even a single beep miles later. No warning lights and obviously seatbelt is always plugged in, etc. Might it be related to an aftermarket alarm or even to the tracker? Have not had the car long. Thanks folks.

When my wrx started beeping the battery was on it's way out maybe worth getting it tested before the cold sets in

Thanks both - good tips. Will read those manuals and connect the battery to my Ctek charger tonight

MY05 STi Type UK, used to do this (a single chirp of the alarm) as you turn the ignition key.
It's an early warning system, to let you know that the engine battery (not key fob) is on it's way out.
Not sure about a couple more beeps mind!

Well it still seems to do it even with the Ctek connected up and providing plenty of volts. I get 2 LOUD beeps followed a few seconds later by three equally loud ones. Gotta be tracker or alarm then. Time to get reading, bloody thing.

Standard alarm apparently so not that. Immobilizer doesn't beep so not that. Ctek flashing indicating a new battery needed so I suppose it must be that. Surprising if it's such a well known symptom of a WRX dying battery that you find nothing when you do a google search on it...?

The voltage is not the important thing with the battery, its the amount of current it can supply to start it anyway. My Mrs battery was duff and not turning the car over, it showed the 12v but was supplying a pathetic amount of amps, not enough to start the car.
My car does sometimes find it difficult to start, feels like there is not enough juice to turn it over properly. Also, sometimes lately the alarm nee-nar sounds for a split second. Might be time for a new battery.

Defo no turbo timer then. Yep, off to Halfrauds tomorrow then. I take it they stock the correct size, etc?

Battery? Youd like to think so, do you have a trade card?

Whereabouts are you? If you were near Swindon or Oxford I'd meet you and get you some discount.

Very decent of you Myles. I'm in Chelmsford, Essex unfortunately. I don't mind paying for it so long as it cures my beepitis...

OK have ordered a new battery from ebay and saved £30. Interestingly the car didn't beep first thing this morning but did from the 2nd time onwards - as though the charger had made some difference. What worries me is the battery easily turns over the starter motor - surely it would sound a little sluggish if it were that bad? Still not convinced the battery is the problem.

These are loud beeps man - two or three times louder than the open door chime...

Am 90% sure I've figured this out - seems obvious now. The batteries in the tracker locator tag have probably run flat and the tracker cannot detect them. The beeps are a warning not to drive the car and cause a false alarm (fortunately I don't think the tracker has an active subscription). Am annoyed as it does not mention this feature anywhere in the tracker manual. Car battery is fine I'm sure. I wonder how I deactive the entire device...

Turns out the beeps are normal - the tracker is supposed to make them. I can't believe how loud they are or that anyone would be able to put up with them all the time. The tracker company want £127 to come out and disable the tracker! Anyone know a good (cheap) place to take the car to in Chelmsford/Essex area for the same treatment?

It's a trafficmaster cat 5. OK, I will have a go. I thought if they were easy to disconnect a car thief would do so immediately after he is deafened by the beeps
