About to buy: Sloshing water normal in a Scooby??? (water in heater rad??)
Hey Guys,
About to get an impreza, just the normal 1.6
When I text drove it, I heard a sloshing water sound from passenger side, mostly when turning.
Mechanics when servicing it said it was normal for Suburus? (maybe normal for Boxer engines?).
Said it was water in the heater rad moving around...
Does anyone know if this is correct!?
BTW: I did check the search, but saw nobody mention water in heater rad..

In ten years on here never, ever heard of this. sloshing sound - usually water ingress is in the boot or rear light clusters. Check the spare wheel well isn't full of water.
TBH i would try some other cars.

You get it if there is air in the coolant system, mine made a running sloshing water noise when my coolant was not added very well. It went when thye main dealer emptied and re-filled it properly.

Should have mentioned, it's coming from front side passenger side.
No dampness or anything like that in the car, can't be sure but I think I could only hear it when car was cold.
From looking around I thought it might be air in the coolant system alright.
I found one other topic about it here on this forum too.

I thought if that was the case I'd find a lot more about it online, but all I'm mostly finding is ppl suggesting air in the system!

+1 air in the cooling system.
You can purge the air by leaving the expansion and overflow tank caps off then running the engine until there is no more air bubbling through. If there is an air lock, then you may need to drain and then carefully refill.
