Hi. Only had my scoob a few weeks now and its devolped this problem over the weekend.
I have replaced the headers and turbo uppipe without replacing the gaskets, two manifold studs, one on each side where also threaded when i removed them i got 2 new studs but the head has also been threaded.
I left those two out im not sure if this could be part of the problem but in 3rd, 4th, and 5th there isnt that much power i remember it being quicker when i first drove it home.
Its also devloped a strange blowing like sound since sat morning, it only happens when under load or above 2.5k revs although if i have it parked on drive and rev it doesnt make this sound.
Any ideas? I can also hear a faint rattle when cruise down the by pass at low rpm, it sounds like from the turbo area does it sound goosed? Cheers

The headers need to be completely sealed, as it's the gases in them that spins your turbo. Hence if they are leaking, most of the gases are escaping to the atmosphere instead of spooling the turbo up.

If you have put tubular headers on, especially the cheap ones off eBay and your engine is pretty standard you will notice a reduction in power. I know because I tried some with my first Scoob.

It was standard headers i had put on as mine was blowing badly and falling apart.
My turbo and and the rest of the exhaust system around the engine bay and the downpipe get very hot even after a short light footed drive and will tick away madly cooling down.
It didnt do this before i changed the headers not sure whats up with it.
