race fuel / methanol
i have a 2.1 cosworth pistons carrillo rods 14 mm head studs race cams ported heads v3 sc46 billet 800 injectors simtec .i use 10% methanol pre mix in tank ,thinking of going to 20 % .how many of you use methanol injection is it any better or is it safer to pre mix.is there any race fuel better than methanol cheers

I run 20% Meth, safer to pre mix, but this is only my opinion.
you start to see the benefits of meth a lot more with 20%, specially torque, a bit more BHP but a larger area under the curve.
Good look

20% is over the top you,l get the same result on less premix is the safest route make sure the mix is exact,as above dont touch it or breath it in.splash it in your eye and you could end up blind, enjoy

If your looking for a 10% meth mix then 10% of the entire mix should be methanol. The above totals 33Litres with 3Litres of it meth. Surely he should be using 27 Litres of VPower and 3 Litres of meth.
Or am I being a div.?

I brim a jerry(7litres) can full of meth and add to 25 litres of fuel. It was originally mapped for 10 lites of meth to a full tank of SUL but i prefer to keep my tank with enough fuel for the weekend plus i like to be safe and run a little more meth.

It doesn't matter what the mix is in terms of 9% or 10% as long as the car has been mapped for the amount you are using.
I use methanol on a daily basis in a laboratory and have never had an allergic reaction with skin contact.
Personally I get the car down to just below 1/4 tank and put a jerry can (5 litres) of methanol in. Fill it right to the top with Tesco 99 and off we go. The mixing is pretty much all done when filling the tank.
Think about pouring squash into a pint glass and logically it makes sense that is is well mixed!!

Provisionally booked in for the coming Monday.
Methanol is being delivered this Friday so im all set to go. Just gotta decide on the mix. 10 or 20%...
What are the 'usual' power increase with the two amounts ?

Usuall gains on 20% are 10% power/torque gain as a rough guide mate

You are correct mate, the above 33 litre mix would create a 9.09% mix, argubly I dont think it would matter too much, however if this is the mix that the car was mapped on then it poses no concern, the car woudl then be mapped for the fuel it is taking, and then if the driver then notices he got his % wrong and corrects it for 10% then certainly 1 % would pose no threat. 10% meth in a 30litre mix would be 27 litrs fuel + 3litres meth = 30litres.
Adding 3litres meth on to 30 litres fuel makes it a 9% or so. The important thing is to keep it constant from when the car was mapped

Ideally a good knock sensor ie KS3 knocklink is a good purchase when running meth as you start to see the knock/det going up when the mix is out.
The standard knock sensor on subaru's isn't the best tbho
