Default LPG Conversion (No Screaming)

Hi All,

I have decided I am going to LPG the scooby. I am now driving a lot more for work and the cost per mile versus the amount they pay me back in expenses is getting tighter and tighter.

Sure I could go and get Diesel rep mobile, but (a) I don't have the cash and (b) I like my car and want to carry on driving it everyday.

So...

Does anyone know of a good garage that does conversions that *has* done scoobies before?

I know LPG Wales have done a couple, they seem nice, but I live in Ruislip NW London, so it is a bit far to go if I have to go back with any issues or for servicing.

Any recommendations would be much appreciated.

Cheers
Nick from Ruislip

I know that prins have a new system that keeps the LPG under pressure(hence liquid) to the standard injectors, so its an easier install, using standard fuel system, with some sort of valving or mixing to introduce the LPG to the standard fuel lines. Prob be cheaper and better than the traditional second set of injectors.

They have installers nationwide, and they have national fixed prices(though if you need exhaust re routing or some bespoke work they charge of course)

Ive never done it but i looked into it a lot when i was gonna buy a SRT-8 jeep.

Hi Jimbo,

Cheers for that, it sounds very interesting. I will give them a call. There web site seems out of date, that product is still coming in 2011.

Cheers,
Nick

Try Oxford Autogas... based just off the M40 at Great Milton and do the cars for the Club MSV cars.

I'm in a similar situation. I've had a haitus from Scoobs since my 05 mod'd wrx went 2 yrs ago. Had a Jag XJv8 on gas (not xjr or the decision might've been more difficult!) until now, but, as most of us do, I'm getting the cash ready to come back.

With a 45 miler commute, I'm also looking to stick a gas tank in the boot and because finding one for sale is rare (hopefully not for a reason) I'm also prepared to do the same.

I've rang a couple (professional autogas sticks in the memory who have done lube kit on sti's before..) Anywa, all the best and let us know what you do..

Be careful when choosing an installer/kit. I was told BRC is the best kit around but loads of local fitters, so went with brc, and now the car feels quite hesitant througout the early revs. Drives like there is an issue with spark plugs (which is what the fitter said) but when I switch to petrol. Its all good.
In the end it was becuase the fitter was local to me, which swang it.
Wish I had taken more time before making the jump.

This an all to familiar story these days , BRC is a good kit but its not the best ,poorly installed its not going to work properly if at all.
the market is being flooded by cheap kits from Eastern europe and turkey and its being fitted by largly untrained people to avery poor standard at best,to make things worse a lot of these companys are approved by the UKLPG .
A general rule of thumb is if its cheap, there is usually a good reason for it, dont get caught!!
regarding valve lubrication, you DO need it,but not the drip fed type as they work on manifold depression,so a forced induction motor will blow the oil back up the pipe, the electronic type is the best ,but, and there always is , they can be unreliable with pump failure.
Before you commit to buy get a garuantee that the system will do what you want....if they say it should cope with 280 bhp, then it almost certainly wont,do you research on both the system and installer, you dont want to convert your car twice!!.

If anyone wants free advise on anything LPG i am only to pleased to help and can be contacted by PM, email, post a question on here , or by phone 01702 258286
