Default what engine fits???

i am in process of getting another engine for my 93 wrx and have been offered a 97 engine.would this fit mine with just a change of inlet???

I am doing the same, I have STI block with Early STI heads , the blocks and fitment of the inlets are the same. The later heads have a different spacing and therefore require a later inlet system , this can cause a problem for sensors and you may need the wiring harness to complete the job.

I have an engine just rebuilt and sitting on a palette, but may go down the 2.5 route now !!

been told that i can just swap inlet from my v1 as inlet different from 98 onwards?

Yip 98-99 inlet was the change I gather. I am just going to stay with my V1 inlet.

same here.mine just dropped a big end so changing instead of rebuild as funds tight then selling on the cdb in mine
