A rattling noise... thought it was a heat shield!!
From cold when I start my UK 2000 Scoob I get an aweful rattling noise, which sounds like a heat shield. When the car has been driven for say half an hour or so its fully warmed up, the noise vanishes.....
I jacked the car up whilst it was cold to find there is a Pipe with a Heat Shield that bolts under the Turbo then goes down to bolt to the Manifold. The welds seemed to have broken so I could wiggle this heat shield. I rewelded this to stop the movement... But the noise is still there.
I have been told there have being similar problems with the manifolds, but, the guy who told me being fair didn't explain it very well almost to the point I thought he was talking foreign..... something to do with a cowl on the manifold is the only part I actually understood..
If any of you Guys & Gals could shed some light on this annoying noise I would appreciate it hugely.
Thanks
Daz

This is De Catted too
It seems to sound around the exhaust manifold area, but I will have a look at this down pipe.... I assume you mean the pipe from the turbo to the manifold? if so I welded the heat shield onto the pipe again so it isn't that
P.S
Sorry for posting in the wrong area
