Default Gearbox's question

Sorry if this has been asked already i have searched but could not find any thing..
I am looking at gearboxes and was wondering if the STI box's are stronger then the UK Box's. Im not talking about the 6 speed ones as i can not afford 2.5k+ for the setup.
What is the gearing like, are they quicker ratios and do i have to have a matching Diff, if i dont will it cause issues with the diff or gearbox.
if i fit a dccd do i just need the module and switch to get it to work..
Failing all this would it be possible/worth rebuilding my gearbox with stronger components

little to no difference beftween a uk or import 5 speed as far as strength goes.

second hand 6 speed is prob the cheapest upgrade you can do.

Some jdm cars have lower ratios, for them it's all about acceleration, since they are limited to 110 mph.
