Default electronic boost controller and removing 2 port

hi all

I am thinking about ditching my 2 port boost solonoid and buying a boost controller and using that to run the car. will that work if i simply remove the solonoid and replace with an aftermarket boost controller? will i get error codes?

the reason being is that when the temperature is down the boost is all over the place. it goes from 10psi all the up 18psi then back down again and will only settle if i gradually input throttle.

does this sound like the restrictor is missing or the solonoid is just knackered?

dont just bodge it, find and correct the fault, dont just try to hide it or you'll cause more damage.

the boost controller will need a remap.

you may as well fit a 3 port and get it mapped, boost control is a waste.

not mapping it while changing the boost is asking for it to elf destruct.

why would i need a remap if i run the same boost?

are you refering to the RPM map of the current solonoid?

Because your talking about changing the boost without mapping it, which will adjust the timing and fuel to run correctly. Before you say it will be running the same boost, the profile may be different with different control.

It also doesn't find where the actual issue is, your just hiding that issue. Might not be anything to do with the solenoid so wont solve the problem.

Same boost, same map, so its not a problem, however, the ECU in its stsndard form has the ability to back off the boost should it find some other fault. This is not the case with a manual control oe seperate electronic control.

First clean the Sol with brake or carb cleaner, the oil with WD40 or 3 in 1 oil.

Then see how it goes.

No of course it hasn't, who said Anything about increasing boost I'm running 0.9 bar, seemed a sensible mod as I will be going for bigger power at a later date.

Brake/Carb cleaner is a strong solvent will take away the dirt and all the oil to, so no lube for the sol.

Adding a bit of clean oil after keeps things moving and helps with the operation.
