Default Intermitant Burning smell

Hi, I have just replaced my drivers side rocker cover gasket, as you all advised it was leaking onto the exhaust.

I pretty sure the leak has been fixed but today the smell was back for a while with some smoke as before. It stopped and now is fine. This has happened about three times, I have done 100 miles since fixing it. Could this be just residual oil burning off or do I still have a problem? Thanks

If there was any oil on the up-pipe I would have thought it would burn off the first time you used it.

If the smell is still there every time you drive it then you still have a leak.

I have just been for a drive and its not doing it. I have felt the rocker cover and its dry. The sealant I used was semi hardening, it seems a bit tacky still. But there's no oil I can see/feel on the rocker cover.
