i have an ordinary impreza 120hp injection 1997 it cuts out dead will start again almost at once,if i tap the crankshaft sensor,

The garage quoted £250 for a replacement part

I havnt removed the sensor yet as its raining & very windy when i do will i find a carbon block sensor?If so can i buy a repair kit??

There seems to be a second sensor on the drivers side cylinger just beside the rocker cover it looks the same at least if it is also a senson might that also be worn out or defective?

Help i cant drive the car and i only bought it two weeks ago
